Cannabidiol is a substrate of CYP3A4 enzymes. Theoretically, drugs that induce CYP3A4 enzymes might reduce the levels and effects of cannabidiol.

Here's the thing to know about this pairing: it's really the griseofulvin affecting your CBD, not the other way around. Griseofulvin can speed up an enzyme in your liver called CYP3A4, and that same enzyme is one of the workers that breaks down CBD. When it's revved up, your body may clear CBD faster, so you could end up with less CBD in your system and a weaker effect than you expected.

Now, this is only a theoretical concern based on how these compounds behave in the lab, not something proven in people, so don't be alarmed. Your griseofulvin should keep working fine for your skin or nail fungus. If you rely on CBD for a specific reason, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.

About Griseofulvin

What Is Griseofulvin Used For?

Brand names: Fulvicin PG, Fulvicin-U/F, Grisactin Ultra, Grisactin

Griseofulvin treats dermatophyte (ringworm-type) fungal infections of the skin, hair, and nails that haven't cleared up with topical (cream or ointment) treatment alone. It is used for tinea corporis (ringworm of the body), tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea barbae (ringworm of the beard area), tinea capitis (ringworm of the scalp), and tinea unguium (fungal nail infection).

It only works against specific dermatophyte fungi. Griseofulvin does not treat bacterial infections, yeast infections (candidiasis), or other fungal infections such as histoplasmosis, sporotrichosis, or tinea versicolor. A lab test or fungal culture should confirm the infection before treatment starts.
