Theoretically, cannabidiol might have additive effects if used with other CNS depressants.
Preliminary clinical research, case reports, and animal studies suggest that high dose cannabidiol has sedative and hypnotic effects. Theoretically, concomitant use of cannabidiol with drugs with sedative and anesthetic properties may cause additive therapeutic and adverse effects.

Here's the gist with temazepam and CBD: temazepam already works by quieting brain activity to help you fall asleep, and CBD can have its own mild calming, sleepy effect, especially at higher supplement doses. Put them together and those effects may stack up. In real terms, that could mean feeling extra drowsy or groggy, being unsteady on your feet (a fall risk if you get up at night), trouble concentrating, or feeling foggy the next morning.

To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based mostly on how the two behave, not strong human studies, so it may not be a big deal for everyone. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before you combine them, rather than stopping or changing anything on your own.

Cannabidiol may increase levels of drugs that are metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro and animal research shows that cannabidiol inhibits CYP3A4. In human studies and case reports, cannabidiol has been associated with an increase in plasma levels of the CYP3A4 substrates zonisamide, tacrolimus, everolimus, citalopram, midazolam, and methadone.

Here's the gist for temazepam (Restoril): your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear it out. CBD can slow that enzyme down, so the temazepam may hang around in your body a bit longer than usual. In practice, that can mean stronger sedation, more next-morning grogginess, dizziness, and trouble with balance or focus.

This is a real and likely interaction, backed by good-quality studies on similar sleep and anxiety medicines. Temazepam itself is the active drug (not a prodrug), so the worry here is too much effect, not too little. Please don't start, stop, or change either one on your own. Loop in your pharmacist or doctor first, especially if you're older or take other things that make you drowsy.

Temazepam capsules — sold as Restoril and under the generic name Temazepam — are indicated for the short-term treatment of insomnia, generally 7 to 10 days. They help people fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
