Diphenhydramine falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Cannabidiol (cbd) interacts with.

Theoretically, cannabidiol might have additive effects if used with other CNS depressants.
Preliminary clinical research, case reports, and animal studies suggest that high dose cannabidiol has sedative and hypnotic effects. Theoretically, concomitant use of cannabidiol with drugs with sedative and anesthetic properties may cause additive therapeutic and adverse effects.

Here's the simple version: both CBD and diphenhydramine (Benadryl and similar products) can make you drowsy on their own. Put them together and that sleepiness can stack up. You might feel more groggy, foggy-headed, dizzy, or sluggish than you'd expect from either one alone. For older adults especially, that can mean a higher risk of confusion or stumbling and falls.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's mostly a theoretical concern based on how these two work, and it shows up more with higher CBD doses. It's not a dangerous chemical reaction, just an additive effect. Be careful before driving or anything that needs you sharp, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Diphenhydramine temporarily relieves symptoms of hay fever, other upper respiratory allergies, and the common cold — including runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the nose or throat.

After Bite Xtra gel is formulated for topical use and is approved to temporarily relieve pain and itching from minor burns, minor cuts and scrapes, insect bites, minor skin irritations, and rashes from poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac.
