Octreotide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) INHIBITORS — the group Cannabidiol (cbd) interacts with.

Theoretically, CYP3A4 inhibitors might increase cannabidiol levels.
Cannabidiol is a substrate of CYP3A4 enzymes. Theoretically, drugs that inhibit CYP3A4 enzymes might increase levels of cannabidiol, increasing its effects and adverse effects.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pairing. Octreotide can act as a mild blocker of an enzyme called CYP3A4, which is one of the main pathways your liver uses to clear CBD. If that pathway is slowed even a little, CBD may build up a bit more than expected, which could mean stronger CBD effects and side effects like drowsiness, diarrhea, dry mouth, or changes in how you feel overall.

I'll be honest with you though: this is a theoretical concern based on how the drugs work on paper, not from real patient reports. It's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding CBD, but it isn't a reason to panic. Don't change your octreotide on your own.

About Octreotide

What Is Octreotide Used For?

Brand names: Sandostatin, Mycapssa

Octreotide injection (available as Sandostatin, BYNFEZIA Pen, and other octreotide acetate injection products) is used to lower abnormally high growth hormone and IGF-1 levels in acromegaly, and to reduce the severe diarrhea and flushing associated with metastatic carcinoid tumors and the profuse watery diarrhea caused by VIPomas (vasoactive intestinal peptide-secreting tumors).

Mycapssa, the oral delayed-release capsule, is approved specifically for long-term maintenance treatment of acromegaly in patients who have already responded to and tolerated treatment with octreotide or lanreotide injections. It is not indicated for carcinoid tumors or VIPomas.
