Why this applies to Lanreotide

Lanreotide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) INHIBITORS — the group Cannabinol (cbn) interacts with.

Theoretically, CYP3A4 inhibitors might increase the levels and clinical effects of cannabinol.
In vitro research shows that CYP3A4 enzymes are involved in the 8-hydroxylation of cannabinol. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the key thing about this pairing: the interaction runs in one direction only. Lanreotide isn't broken down by the CYP3A4 enzyme, so it won't change how CBN behaves. Instead, the concern is the reverse. CBN appears to be processed in part by CYP3A4, and if a medication blocks that enzyme, CBN could build up in your body. Lanreotide is not a meaningful CYP3A4 blocker, so on paper it shouldn't push CBN levels up much at all.

On top of that, this is based only on lab (test-tube) data and has never actually been seen in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, because cannabis products vary so much and Lanreotide is a serious medication, run it past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

About Lanreotide Injection

What Is Lanreotide Injection Used For?

Brand name: Somatuline

Lanreotide Injection is used for the long-term treatment of acromegaly (a condition where the body produces too much growth hormone) in patients who have not responded adequately to surgery or radiation, or who cannot have those treatments. The goal is to bring growth hormone and IGF-1 levels back to normal.

It is also used to treat adults with unresectable, well- or moderately-differentiated, locally advanced or metastatic gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs) to help slow tumor progression, and to treat adults with carcinoid syndrome, where it reduces how often short-acting rescue medications are needed. If a patient is already receiving Lanreotide Injection for GEP-NETs, no additional dose is given for carcinoid syndrome.
