Lanreotide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) INHIBITORS — the group Adrafinil interacts with.

Theoretically, drugs that inhibit CYP3A4 might increase the levels and clinical effects of adrafinil.
Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil is metabolized by CYP3A4.

Here's the gist of how this pairing works. Adrafinil doesn't do much until your liver turns it into modafinil, and an enzyme called CYP3A4 is what breaks modafinil down. Lanreotide is listed as a mild CYP3A4 blocker, so in theory it could slow that breakdown and let modafinil build up a bit. If that happened, you might notice stronger stimulant-type effects like trouble sleeping, jitteriness, a racing heart, headache, or anxiety.

I'll be straight with you though: this is a theoretical concern based on how the drugs work on paper, not on real patient reports, and lanreotide's effect on this enzyme is pretty weak. Still, since adrafinil is unregulated and tough on the liver, please run it by your doctor or pharmacist first.

About Lanreotide Injection

What Is Lanreotide Injection Used For?

Brand name: Somatuline

Lanreotide Injection is used for the long-term treatment of acromegaly (a condition where the body produces too much growth hormone) in patients who have not responded adequately to surgery or radiation, or who cannot have those treatments. The goal is to bring growth hormone and IGF-1 levels back to normal.

It is also used to treat adults with unresectable, well- or moderately-differentiated, locally advanced or metastatic gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs) to help slow tumor progression, and to treat adults with carcinoid syndrome, where it reduces how often short-acting rescue medications are needed. If a patient is already receiving Lanreotide Injection for GEP-NETs, no additional dose is given for carcinoid syndrome.
