Why this applies to Torsemide

Torsemide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Cannabinol (cbn) interacts with.

Theoretically, cannabinol might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2C9 substrates.
In vitro research shows that cannabinol potently inhibits CYP2C9 enzymes. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2C9 to help clear torsemide (Demadex, Soaanz). In lab studies, CBN appears to block that enzyme fairly strongly. If that same effect happened in people, torsemide could hang around longer and act stronger than expected.

For a water pill like torsemide, a bigger-than-planned effect might mean more frequent urination, dizziness or lightheadedness (especially standing up), dehydration, or low potassium and sodium. The important thing to know is that this is theoretical, based only on test-tube research, and it hasn't actually been reported in real patients. Still, since CBN products vary a lot in quality and dose, it's worth running it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

What Is Torsemide Used For?

Brand names: Demadex, Soaanz

Torsemide tablets are used to treat edema — excess fluid buildup causing swelling — associated with heart failure, renal disease, or hepatic disease. Removing that extra fluid can relieve swelling and make breathing easier.

Torsemide tablets are also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events, including strokes and heart attacks. It can be used alone or alongside other blood pressure medications.
