Clemastine falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Cilantro interacts with.

Evidence from in vitro research suggests that coriandrin, a constituent of cilantro, has photosensitizing effects. Theoretically, concomitant use with photosensitizing drugs might increase photosensitivity. Some drugs that cause photosensitivity include amitriptyline (Elavil), quinolones (Ciprofloxacin, others), sulfa drugs (Septra, Bactrim, others), and tetracycline.

Here's the gist for cilantro and clemastine. A plant compound in cilantro called coriandrin may, in theory, make your skin a little more sensitive to sunlight. Clemastine itself can sometimes do the same thing, so the worry is that combining the two could add up and leave you more prone to sunburn or a rash after time outdoors.

Honestly though, this one is very mild and mostly theoretical, based on lab studies rather than real patients. The cilantro you sprinkle on tacos or soup is unlikely to cause any trouble at all. Concentrated cilantro supplements or essential oil are where I'd be a touch more cautious. Either way, simply using sunscreen and a hat covers you nicely. What Is Clemastine Used For?

Brand name: Tavist Allergy

Clemastine treats symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever and similar nasal allergies) — including sneezing, runny nose, itching, and watery eyes. The oral solution (Clemastine Fumarate syrup) is indicated for adults and children aged 6 through 12 years. The tablets (Clemastine Fumarate and Clemsza) are indicated for adults.

Clemastine also treats mild, uncomplicated allergic skin reactions — specifically urticaria (hives) and angioedema (swelling under the skin) — at the appropriate dosage level, in both the oral solution and tablet forms.
