ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Chlorpropamide
Chlorpropamide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Corn Silk interacts with.
Animal research in diabetic mice shows that taking corn silk extract lowers fasting blood glucose levels.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: Chlorpropamide already lowers your blood sugar by pushing your pancreas to release more insulin. Corn silk may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own, so stacking the two together could, in theory, push your sugar too low. That's called hypoglycemia, and with chlorpropamide it can show up as shakiness, sweating, hunger, confusion, or feeling faint. Chlorpropamide is long-acting, so a low can linger.
Honestly though, this concern comes mostly from animal studies, not solid human research, so I wouldn't panic. A cup of corn silk tea now and then is unlikely to be a big deal. If you plan to use it regularly, check your sugars more closely at first and let your pharmacist or doctor know.

About Corn Silk
What is Corn Silk?
- Urinary tract and bladder problems
- Mild fluid retention (diuretic)
- Kidney and prostate concerns
- Bedwetting in children
- Soothing urinary irritation
Corn silk is a traditional herbal remedy taken as a tea or extract, mostly for urinary and mild fluid-related complaints. High-quality human evidence for these uses is limited, so it should not replace proven treatments. It is generally considered low-risk for short-term use in healthy adults, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before trying it.

Chlorpropamide Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Chlorpropamide as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Corn Silk — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
