SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS
Why this applies to Aripiprazole Lauroxil
Aripiprazole Lauroxil falls under SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS — the group Dendrobium interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to know about pairing Dendrobium with your Aristada (aripiprazole lauroxil) injection. One natural compound in this orchid, called dendrobine, has been reported in lab and animal work to act as a convulsant, meaning it could nudge the brain closer to having a seizure. Antipsychotics like aripiprazole can also lower the seizure threshold a bit on their own, so stacking the two together might, in theory, raise that risk.
I'll be honest with you: this is a theoretical concern based on pharmacology, not on real cases in people taking these two together. The chance is low, but since your injection lasts in your body for weeks, you can't simply skip a dose if a problem comes up. Please check with your pharmacist or prescriber before adding Dendrobium.

About Dendrobium
What is Dendrobium?
- Dry mouth and thirst
- Supporting digestion
- General tonic/vitality
- Eye and skin health
- Recovery after illness
Dendrobium is a group of orchids long used in traditional Chinese medicine, often to moisten the body and as a general tonic. Human evidence for its modern health claims is very limited, so it should be viewed as a traditional remedy rather than a proven treatment. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding because safety isn't known.
