Bupropion, Naltrexone falls under ANTIDEPRESSANT DRUGS — the group Dhea interacts with.

Theoretically, DHEA might increase the risk of psychiatric adverse events when used with antidepressants.
In a human case report, the use of a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) with DHEA caused a manic episode. Concern for this interaction may be greater in younger individuals with higher baseline DHEA levels.

Here's the gist with Contrave (bupropion plus naltrexone) and DHEA. The bupropion half acts on brain chemicals that affect mood, and DHEA is a hormone your body can turn into testosterone and estrogen, which can also nudge mood. Put them together and there's a theoretical worry that mood-related side effects could be amplified, things like feeling unusually wired, anxious, agitated, having trouble sleeping, or in rare cases swinging toward a manic high.

I want to be honest about the strength here: this is based mostly on lab data plus a single case report involving a different antidepressant, so it's far from proven. The concern may be a bit higher in younger people, who naturally run higher DHEA. Since DHEA is a real hormone with real effects, please run it past your pharmacist or doctor before combining.

Contrave (naltrexone/bupropion extended-release tablets) is approved to help adults with obesity, or adults who are overweight and have at least one weight-related health condition, lose excess weight and keep it off long term. It is always used together with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity — not as a stand-alone treatment.

Contrave is not approved to treat depression, anxiety, or any other psychiatric condition, and it is not approved for use in anyone under 18 years of age.
