Desogestrel, Ethinyl Estradiol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Dhea interacts with.

Theoretically, DHEA might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Some preliminary evidence shows that DHEA may inhibit CYP3A4; however, the clinical significance of this potential interaction is not known.

Here's the short version with your birth control pill (Desogen, Marvelon, and similar). The estrogen part, ethinyl estradiol, is broken down partly by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. There's some early, anecdotal evidence that DHEA may slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happens, your estrogen levels could run a little higher than usual, which in theory might mean more of the typical hormone-related effects like nausea, breast tenderness, headaches, bloating, or mood changes.

I want to be honest though: this is mostly theoretical, the evidence is weak, and we don't really know if it matters in real life. DHEA is also its own hormone, so layering it on top of a hormonal contraceptive raises separate questions. Before adding DHEA, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Theoretically, DHEA might increase the effects and adverse effects of estrogen therapy.
DHEA is a precursor to estrogen and androgen and is metabolized into those substances. In clinical research, DHEA supplements increase the levels of these hormones. Also, in clinical research, estrogen-progestin oral contraceptives and conjugated estrogens reduce blood levels of DHEA and DHEA-S. The clinical significance of these findings is unclear.

Your birth control pill (Desogen, Marvelon, Ortho-Cept) already gives you a steady dose of estrogen. Here's the thing about DHEA: your body can turn it into estrogen and testosterone. So in theory, adding DHEA on top of your pill could nudge your total estrogen-type activity a little higher, which might mean more of the usual estrogen side effects like breast tenderness, bloating, nausea, mood shifts, or spotting.

I want to be honest with you though, this concern comes mostly from lab and theory, not strong human studies, so the real-world impact is probably small. Interestingly, the pill itself may actually lower your DHEA levels too. Since DHEA is a true hormone, I'd still loop in your doctor or pharmacist before starting it, especially with any hormone-sensitive condition.
