Venetoclax falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Dhea interacts with.

Theoretically, DHEA might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Some preliminary evidence shows that DHEA may inhibit CYP3A4; however, the clinical significance of this potential interaction is not known.

Here's the gist for your situation. Your body relies on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down and clear venetoclax. There is some early, limited evidence that DHEA may slow that same enzyme down a bit. If it does, less venetoclax gets cleared, so levels in your blood could drift higher than expected.

With venetoclax, higher levels can mean a greater chance of side effects like low blood counts, infections, diarrhea, nausea, fatigue, or in some cases tumor lysis syndrome. I want to be honest though: this interaction is mostly theoretical and based on weak, anecdotal data, so we don't truly know how much it matters in real life. Since venetoclax is serious cancer therapy, please don't start or stop DHEA on your own. Run it by your oncologist or pharmacist first.

About Venetoclax

What Is Venetoclax Used For?

Brand name: Venclexta

Venetoclax treats two types of blood cancers: chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) in adults. It can be used alone or in combination with other medicines such as obinutuzumab, rituximab, or acalabrutinib.

Venclexta is also used in combination with azacitidine, decitabine, or low-dose cytarabine for newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in adults aged 75 or older, or in adults who cannot tolerate intensive chemotherapy due to other health conditions.
