    A small clinical trial in patients with type 2 diabetes shows that taking ellagic acid 180 mg daily for 8 weeks has beneficial effects on glycemic status, insulin resistance, and lipid levels when compared with placebo. Fasting blood glucose was reduced by 37 mg/dL, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) by 1.3%, and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol by 15%, with no change in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.
