First things first: European mandrake is genuinely toxic, and I would not recommend taking it in any form. With that said, here is the idea behind this specific interaction. Mandrake's tropane alkaloids (like atropine and scopolamine) slow down how fast your gut moves. When food and pills sit longer in your digestive tract, your body may have more time to soak up an oral medicine like prednisolone.

Prednisolone is already in its active form (it is not a prodrug that needs activating), so more absorption could mean a stronger steroid effect and more side effects, things like fluid retention, higher blood sugar, mood changes, trouble sleeping, or stomach upset. Keep in mind this is a theoretical concern based on how these drugs behave, not proven in people. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything with your steroid.
