Antihypertensive Drugs
Why this applies to Hydrochlorothiazide, Losartan Potassium
Hydrochlorothiazide, Losartan Potassium falls under Antihypertensive Drugs — the group Fenugreek interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Hyzaar is a two-in-one blood pressure pill: losartan (which relaxes your blood vessels) plus hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill that helps you shed extra fluid). Fenugreek, when taken in concentrated supplement doses, may gently nudge your blood pressure down on its own. Put the two together and the effects can stack up a bit, so your pressure could dip lower than expected.
If that happens, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, or unusually tired, especially when standing up quickly. The good news is this is rated a minor interaction with only weak, mostly animal-based evidence, and the sprinkle of fenugreek in cooking is very unlikely to matter. If you do take fenugreek capsules, just check your blood pressure at home now and then, and chat with your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.
