Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Corzide pairs two blood pressure lowering medicines: nadolol (a beta blocker) and bendroflumethiazide (a water pill). Flaxseed isn't broken down by the same pathways as these drugs, so this isn't a chemistry clash. Instead, it's an additive effect. Taken daily for several weeks, flaxseed can modestly nudge your blood pressure down on its own, and stacked on top of Corzide that could push your numbers a little lower than expected.

If that happens, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, or tired, especially when standing up quickly. This is theory-based and usually mild, and a sprinkle of flaxseed on yogurt is unlikely to matter much. Still, if you're taking concentrated flaxseed supplements, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your readings.
