Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Diutensen combines two blood pressure lowering ingredients: cryptenamine and methyclothiazide (a thiazide-type water pill). Here's the thing about flaxseed: when used as a daily supplement, especially for more than 12 weeks, it can modestly lower blood pressure on its own. Stack that on top of a medication already doing the same job, and the two effects may add up.

For most people this is a gentle, theoretical concern rather than a dramatic one, but if your pressure drops too low you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint, particularly when standing up quickly. The fiber in flax can also slow how your gut absorbs pills, so it's smart to space them apart. Please check in with your pharmacist or doctor before adding flaxseed regularly, and keep an eye on your blood pressure.
