Garcinia and Dasiglucagon Hydrochloride

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Moderate

ANTIDIABETES DRUGS

Why this applies to Dasiglucagon Hydrochloride

Dasiglucagon Hydrochloride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Garcinia interacts with.

Theoretically, hydroxycitric acid (HCA), the main active ingredient in garcinia, might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
HCA reduces fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels in animal models, theoretically by delaying glucose absorption. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Severity Moderate Likelihood Possible Evidence D

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the thing about pairing Garcinia with dasiglucagon (Zegalogue): this is a special-case rescue medicine. You only use it during a severe low blood sugar emergency, and its whole job is to push your blood sugar back up by telling your liver to release stored sugar. So the worry the database lists, that Garcinia might lower blood sugar and add to a diabetes drug's effect, runs in the opposite direction from what dasiglucagon does.

In plain terms, Garcinia could theoretically blunt how well dasiglucagon raises your sugar, but this is based only on animal studies and has never been shown in people. The bigger point: don't let any supplement leave your everyday blood sugar running low. Loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding Garcinia.
