Felbamate falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Garcinia interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use with other potentially hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of developing liver damage.
There have been reports of acute hepatitis with elevated liver enzymes associated with garcinia, when taken alone or in combination with other ingredients. Case reports collected from the Drug Induced Liver Injury Network suggest this risk may be greater in people who carry the HLA B*35:01 allele.

Here's the thing to know about pairing Garcinia with felbamate: this isn't about one changing how fast the other is cleared. It's about the liver itself. Felbamate already carries a known risk of liver injury, which is part of why it's reserved for seizures that haven't responded to other medicines. Garcinia has its own scattered reports of liver problems, including acute hepatitis. Stack two things that can stress the liver and you may raise the overall risk.

To be fair, this concern is theoretical, based on how each is known to behave rather than studies of them together. Still, with a drug like felbamate I'd play it safe. Watch for yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, nausea, or unusual tiredness, and check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding Garcinia.

Garcinia is a tropical fruit whose rind contains hydroxycitric acid (HCA), widely marketed for weight loss and appetite control. The scientific evidence is weak and mixed, with most studies showing only small or no meaningful weight effects, and rare reports of liver problems raise safety concerns. About Felbamate

What Is Felbamate Used For?

Brand name: Felbatol

Felbamate is not a first-line seizure medication. It is used only when a person's epilepsy has not responded well enough to other treatments and the seizures are severe enough that the serious risks of this drug are considered acceptable.

In adults, felbamate can be used alone or alongside other antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) to treat partial seizures (seizures that start in one part of the brain), with or without spreading to become a full seizure. In children, felbamate is used as an add-on treatment for both partial and generalized seizures linked to Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of childhood epilepsy. Felbatol is specifically labeled for these uses in both adults and children.
