Sorafenib falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Garcinia interacts with.

Theoretically, hydroxycitric acid (HCA), the main active ingredient in garcinia, might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
HCA inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. The inhibitory effect seems to be greater in platelets extracted from diabetic subjects than non-diabetic subjects.

Here's the situation with Garcinia and your Sorafenib (Nexavar). Sorafenib itself can already lower your platelets and raise your bleeding risk, which is something your oncology team watches closely. The concern on file is that hydroxycitric acid (HCA), the active piece of Garcinia, may make platelets a bit less sticky too. In theory, stacking those two effects could nudge your bleeding risk a little higher, showing up as easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that are slow to stop.

I want to be honest that this is a theoretical concern based on lab data, not strong human studies, so don't panic. Still, with a cancer drug like this, it's worth being careful. Please check with your oncologist or pharmacist before adding Garcinia, since it can also stress the liver.

About Sorafenib

What Is Sorafenib Used For?

Brand name: Nexavar

Sorafenib tablets are approved to treat three types of cancer. The first is unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) — liver cancer that cannot be removed with surgery. The second is advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) — kidney cancer that has spread or progressed. Both the brand Nexavar and generic sorafenib tablets are approved for these two uses.

The third use is for locally recurrent or metastatic, progressive differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) — thyroid cancer that has spread or worsened and no longer responds to radioactive iodine treatment. Nexavar and sorafenib tablets are both approved for this use as well.
