Here's the situation with Talwin Compound, which pairs aspirin with pentazocine (a pain reliever that works on the central nervous system). The concern is mostly about the pentazocine side. In animal studies, the berberine in goldenseal showed mild sedative effects. So in theory, taking goldenseal alongside pentazocine could add to its calming action and leave you feeling extra drowsy, foggy, or lightheaded.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on lab and animal work, and it hasn't actually been reported in people. The aspirin part isn't really involved here. If you take both regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor, and go easy until you know how the combination affects you, especially before driving.

Goldenseal contains berberine. In vitro and animal research shows that berberine can inhibit platelet aggregation. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Talwin Compound pairs aspirin with the pain reliever pentazocine. The piece that matters here is the aspirin, since it already thins the blood a bit by keeping platelets from clumping together. Goldenseal contains berberine, and in lab dishes and animal studies berberine seems to slow platelet clumping too. So the theory is that taking both could add up and make bleeding a little more likely.

Honestly, this hasn't actually been seen in people, so the concern is on paper for now. Still, with aspirin on board I'd watch for things like easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or stomach upset. Before adding goldenseal, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor, especially if you also take other blood thinners.
