Hydroflumethiazide falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Goldenseal interacts with.

Theoretically, goldenseal might increase the risk of hypotension when taken with antihypertensive drugs.
Goldenseal contains berberine. Animal research shows that berberine can have hypotensive effects. Also, an analysis of clinical research shows that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with amlodipine alone. However, this effect has not been reported with goldenseal.

Hydroflumethiazide (Saluron) is a water pill that lowers blood pressure by helping your body get rid of extra salt and fluid. Goldenseal contains a compound called berberine, which in animal studies and some human research (mostly with berberine, not goldenseal itself) appears to nudge blood pressure downward on its own. Put the two together and there's a theoretical chance your blood pressure could dip a little lower than expected.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, or tired, especially when standing up quickly. To be clear, this is based on how these things work in theory, not on strong human proof with goldenseal specifically. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, so they can keep an eye on your numbers.
