Caffeine , Sodium Benzoate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Goldthread interacts with.

There's very preliminary evidence that berberine, a constituent of goldthread, might inhibit cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) enzyme. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for an increase in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 in patients taking goldthread. Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), clarithromycin (Biaxin), indinavir (Crixivan), sildenafil (Viagra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others. Use goldthread cautiously or avoid in patients taking these drugs.

Here's the short version: goldthread contains berberine, which in lab studies might slow down the CYP3A4 enzyme. The thinking is that if a drug is cleared by CYP3A4, blocking that enzyme could let the drug build up. With caffeine and sodium benzoate, the effect would be a stronger caffeine kick than expected, things like jitteriness, a racing or pounding heart, trouble sleeping, or feeling anxious.

One honest caveat though: caffeine is mainly broken down by a different enzyme (CYP1A2), not CYP3A4, so this particular pathway likely matters very little here. On top of that, this whole interaction is only theoretical and hasn't been seen in real people. Still, if you take goldthread regularly, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor first.
