Theoretically, taking CYP3A4 inducers with groundsel might increase the risk of pyrrolizidine alkaloid toxicity, such as hepatotoxicity.

Here's the key thing with this combo: groundsel contains plant chemicals called pyrrolizidine alkaloids, and your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to turn them into toxic byproducts. The phenobarbital piece of your medication is a well-known CYP3A4 booster, meaning it speeds that enzyme up. In theory, that could mean more of groundsel's harmful metabolites get made, raising the risk of liver damage.

To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based on lab and animal data, not strong human studies, so I don't want to alarm you. But honestly, groundsel isn't safe to take by mouth on its own, and we wouldn't recommend it regardless. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing the two.
