Dapagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Guarumo interacts with.

Some clinical evidence suggests that drinking tea prepared with guarumo leaf might lower blood glucose levels in people with type 2 diabetes. Theoretically, guarumo might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, metformin (Glucophage), pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the simple version: guarumo tea has been shown in a few small studies to nudge blood sugar down on its own. Since dapagliflozin (Farxiga) already works to lower your blood sugar, stacking the two could add up and push your numbers lower than you want. This isn't about guarumo changing how your body breaks down the drug, it's more of a teamwork effect on glucose.

For most people on Farxiga alone, serious lows are uncommon, but if you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea, watch for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy. The evidence here is fairly limited, so don't panic. Just check your blood sugar more often and chat with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them, since your dose might need a tweak.

What Is Dapagliflozin Used For?

Dapagliflozin is used for several serious conditions. It helps improve blood sugar control in adults and children aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes (alongside diet and exercise). It also reduces the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors.

Farxiga (dapagliflozin) is additionally approved to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death, hospitalization, and urgent visits due to heart failure in adults with heart failure — and to slow the progression of chronic kidney disease, including reducing the risk of kidney failure and cardiovascular death, in adults with chronic kidney disease at risk of getting worse.
