Linagliptin, Metformin Hydrochloride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Guarumo interacts with.

Some clinical evidence suggests that drinking tea prepared with guarumo leaf might lower blood glucose levels in people with type 2 diabetes. Theoretically, guarumo might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, metformin (Glucophage), pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the simple version: your Jentadueto XR (linagliptin plus metformin) already works to bring your blood sugar down. Guarumo tea has been shown in some early, lower-quality studies to nudge blood sugar down on its own. So when you sip the tea while taking your medication, the two can add together and push your numbers lower than you intended.

What that can feel like is low blood sugar: shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a fast heartbeat, or feeling confused or hungry. The evidence here isn't strong, and an occasional cup may not move much, but I'd still keep a closer eye on your readings. Please don't change your dose on your own. Just check in with your pharmacist or doctor before adding guarumo so they can guide you safely.
