Metformin, Sitagliptin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Guarumo interacts with.

Some clinical evidence suggests that drinking tea prepared with guarumo leaf might lower blood glucose levels in people with type 2 diabetes. Theoretically, guarumo might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, metformin (Glucophage), pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the simple version: Janumet combines two diabetes medicines (metformin and sitagliptin) that both work to bring your blood sugar down. Guarumo leaf tea may gently nudge blood sugar lower too. So the concern isn't a clash, it's that they may stack on top of each other and push your numbers too low.

If that happens, you might feel shaky, sweaty, lightheaded, irritable, or unusually tired (signs of low blood sugar, or hypoglycemia). The evidence here is fairly limited and the effect is likely modest, so don't panic. But if you want to try guarumo, please check in with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep a closer eye on your blood sugar readings. Don't change your Janumet dose on your own.
