Repaglinide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Guarumo interacts with.

Some clinical evidence suggests that drinking tea prepared with guarumo leaf might lower blood glucose levels in people with type 2 diabetes. Theoretically, guarumo might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, metformin (Glucophage), pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the thing to keep in mind: repaglinide already works by pushing your pancreas to release more insulin, which brings your blood sugar down. Guarumo tea may nudge your blood sugar lower too. So when you put the two together, those effects can stack up, and your sugar could dip lower than you'd expect.

That means you'd want to watch for signs of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or feeling confused or unusually hungry. The evidence here isn't super strong, and it's the kind of thing that's more likely with regular, concentrated tea than an occasional cup. Still, please don't change your repaglinide dose on your own. Check your numbers more closely and loop in your pharmacist or doctor so they can guide any adjustments.

Guarumo (Cecropia obtusifolia) is a tropical tree used in Latin American traditional medicine, most often as a leaf tea for diabetes and high blood pressure. Repaglinide tablets are used to help control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes, together with diet and exercise. It is not a substitute for healthy habits — it works best as part of a full diabetes management plan.

Repaglinide is not for type 1 diabetes or for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous condition where the blood becomes too acidic due to lack of insulin).
