Zileuton falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Hemp Agrimony interacts with.

Hemp agrimony contains hepatotoxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA). Theoretically, using hemp agrimony with hepatotoxic drugs might have additive adverse effects on the liver. Some drugs that can adversely affect the liver include acetaminophen (Tylenol and others), amiodarone (Cordarone), carbamazepine (Tegretol), isoniazid (INH), methotrexate (Rheumatrex), methyldopa (Aldomet), fluconazole (Diflucan), itraconazole (Sporanox), erythromycin (Erythrocin, Ilosone, others), phenytoin (Dilantin), lovastatin (Mevacor), pravastatin (Pravachol), simvastatin (Zocor), and many others.

Here's the concern with pairing these two. Zileuton can be tough on the liver all by itself, which is why your doctor checks liver enzymes (the ALT test) regularly while you're on it, especially in the first few months. Hemp agrimony is a different problem: it can contain pyrrolizidine alkaloids, natural compounds that may damage the liver too.

Put them together and you're potentially asking your liver to handle two stressors at once. That could raise the odds of liver irritation, which might show up as fatigue, nausea, belly pain, dark urine, or yellowing of the skin or eyes. This is a theoretical worry based on how each one works, not something proven in studies, but it's a real enough reason to be cautious. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Hemp agrimony is a traditional European herb that has been used for digestion, colds, and as a general tonic, but there is very little reliable human research to support these uses. About Zileuton

What Is Zileuton Used For?

Brand names: Zyflo, Zyflo CR

Zileuton is used for the ongoing prevention and treatment of asthma in adults and adolescents aged 12 and older. It is a maintenance medicine — meaning it is taken regularly to keep asthma under control, not to stop an asthma attack once it has started.

Zyflo (the tablet form) and zileuton extended-release tablets are both approved for this same purpose. Neither form should be used to treat a sudden asthma attack. However, both can be continued during a flare-up of asthma while you also use your rescue inhaler.
