Some Metformin, Linagliptin Products Have a Food Rule — Henbane Should Not Break It

At least one FDA label for a product containing Metformin, Linagliptin says to take it with food. If you take Henbane on an empty stomach out of habit, keep them separate — and take Metformin, Linagliptin with a meal where the label says to.

This may not be true of your version. Food instructions belong to the product, not the ingredient: two Metformin, Linagliptin products can carry different directions, and extended-release forms often differ from immediate-release ones. Henbane is a highly poisonous plant containing potent alkaloids like hyoscyamine and scopolamine, and even small amounts can cause serious or deadly poisoning. While its compounds have real medical uses, these belong in carefully controlled prescription drugs, not in self-made or self-dosed herbal products. We strongly advise against using henbane as a supplement.

Hyoscyamus niger · Solanaceae · Leaves, flowering tops, and seeds · Rarely available; historically used as dried herb, tinctures, extracts, and topical oils. Not recommended for self-use.
