Doxorubicin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Hibiscus Sabdariffa interacts with.

Theoretically, Hibiscus sabdariffa extract might reduce the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Hibiscus sabdariffa calyx extract inhibits CYP3A4. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist: doxorubicin is partly broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In test-tube studies, concentrated hibiscus extract slowed that enzyme down. In theory, that could mean your body clears doxorubicin a little more slowly, letting more of it linger in your bloodstream. With a chemo drug like this, that might add to side effects such as nausea, mouth sores, low blood counts, or strain on the heart.

But I want to keep this in perspective. This is purely lab-based and has never been reported in real people, and it's rated as a minor concern. A cup of tart hibiscus tea is unlikely to matter. Still, because doxorubicin is serious medicine, please run any hibiscus supplement past your oncologist or pharmacist first.

Doxorubicin is used to treat a wide range of cancers. It is given as part of combination chemotherapy for women with breast cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes after surgery, and it is used for many other cancers — from blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma to solid tumors like bone and soft tissue sarcomas.
