Why this applies to Fluticasone

Fluticasone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Hibiscus Sabdariffa interacts with.

Theoretically, Hibiscus sabdariffa extract might reduce the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Hibiscus sabdariffa calyx extract inhibits CYP3A4. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with hibiscus tea and fluticasone. Fluticasone (whether you inhale it for asthma or spray it in your nose for allergies) is cleared from your body by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dish studies, hibiscus extract slowed that enzyme down a bit. If that held true in real life, it could let a little more fluticasone linger in your system, slightly raising the chance of typical steroid effects.

The good news: this has never actually been seen in people, and it's rated minor and purely theoretical. A cup or two of hibiscus tea is very unlikely to cause any trouble. Concentrated hibiscus supplements are less predictable, so if you use those regularly, just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up.
