Theoretically, taking Hibiscus sabdariffa with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Most clinical evidence suggests that taking Hibiscus sabdariffa reduces systolic and diastolic blood pressure. In animal research, Hibiscus sabdariffa increased the hypotensive effects of single doses of losartan and amlodipine.

Here's the simple version: hibiscus tea has a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect of its own. Since spironolactone (Aldactone) is also used to bring blood pressure down and remove extra fluid, drinking concentrated hibiscus alongside it could add to that effect. In theory, your pressure could dip a little lower than expected, which might leave you feeling dizzy, lightheaded, or wobbly when you stand up.

I'll be honest, this concern is mostly theoretical, based on how each works and some animal studies, not strong human proof. An occasional cup of hibiscus tea is unlikely to cause trouble. With daily concentrated supplements it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor, especially if your blood pressure already runs on the low side.

Hibiscus sabdariffa is a tart, cranberry-flavored plant most often consumed as a tea, and its best-studied use is for mildly lowering blood pressure. About Spironolactone

What Is Spironolactone Used For?

Brand names: Aldactone, Spiroton, Carospir

Spironolactone tablets (including Aldactone) are used to treat moderate-to-severe heart failure, high blood pressure, and fluid retention (edema) caused by liver cirrhosis or nephrotic syndrome. They are also used to diagnose and manage primary hyperaldosteronism — a condition where the adrenal glands produce too much of the hormone aldosterone.

Spironolactone oral suspension shares several of these uses — heart failure, high blood pressure, and edema from liver cirrhosis — but is not the same as Aldactone and is not therapeutically interchangeable with it. Your prescriber will choose the right form for your situation.
