Ciclesonide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Hibiscus Sabdariffa interacts with.

Theoretically, Hibiscus sabdariffa extract might reduce the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Hibiscus sabdariffa calyx extract inhibits CYP3A4. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with hibiscus tea and your Alvesco or Omnaris inhaler. Ciclesonide is broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and lab studies (in test tubes, not people) suggest concentrated hibiscus extract might slow that enzyme down a little. In theory, that could let slightly more ciclesonide hang around in your body.

Honestly, I wouldn't lose sleep over this one. It's rated as a minor, theoretical concern that has never actually been reported in humans, and inhaled steroids deliver only small amounts to begin with. Even if a tiny bit more lingered, you'd more likely notice mild things like a hoarse voice or oral thrush rather than anything serious. A cup of hibiscus tea is very unlikely to matter. If you use strong hibiscus supplements regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist.

What Is Ciclesonide Oral Inhalation Used For?

Brand names: Omnaris, Alvesco, Zetonna

Alvesco (ciclesonide) inhaler is approved for the maintenance treatment of asthma as a preventive therapy in adults and children 12 years of age and older. It is taken regularly to reduce airway inflammation and help prevent asthma symptoms — not to relieve a sudden attack.

Alvesco is not a rescue inhaler and should not be used to treat sudden wheezing or acute asthma episodes. It is also not approved for children under 12.
