Quinapril falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Hoodia interacts with.

Clinical research shows that hoodia can increase blood pressure. Theoretically, concomitant use of hoodia with antihypertensive drugs might decrease the effectiveness of the antihypertensive drugs and increase the risk of hypertension. Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Here's the simple version: Quinapril (Accupril) is a blood pressure pill, and it works to bring your numbers down. Some research suggests that hoodia may nudge blood pressure up. If both of those are true at the same time, hoodia could partly cancel out the work your quinapril is doing, so your blood pressure may not stay as low as you and your doctor want.

I'll be honest, this concern is mostly theoretical, based on how hoodia seems to behave rather than strong studies in people taking both together. Still, since hoodia hasn't been proven to help with weight anyway, I'd skip it or run it by your pharmacist or doctor first. If you do try it, keep an eye on your home blood pressure readings.

Hoodia is a succulent plant from southern Africa that is marketed as an appetite suppressant for weight loss, but solid human evidence that it actually works is lacking. What Is Quinapril Used For?

Brand names: Accupril, Accupro

Quinapril tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack. Quinapril may be used alone or combined with a thiazide diuretic (water pill) when one medication isn't enough.

Quinapril tablets are also used in the management of heart failure as an add-on therapy alongside other standard treatments such as diuretics and/or digitalis.
