Lisinopril falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Hoodia interacts with.

Clinical research shows that hoodia can increase blood pressure. Theoretically, concomitant use of hoodia with antihypertensive drugs might decrease the effectiveness of the antihypertensive drugs and increase the risk of hypertension. Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Here's the concern with pairing hoodia with your lisinopril. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor that lowers your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. Some research suggests hoodia can actually raise blood pressure a bit. If that happens, it could work against your lisinopril and make it harder to keep your numbers where your doctor wants them.

I'll be honest with you though: this interaction is mostly theoretical, based on how hoodia behaves rather than proven cases of it canceling out a medicine like lisinopril. Still, since blood pressure control matters, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding hoodia. If you do try it, keep an eye on your home readings so any upward drift gets caught early.

Hoodia is a succulent plant from southern Africa that is marketed as an appetite suppressant for weight loss, but solid human evidence that it actually works is lacking. The few quality studies done have not shown meaningful weight loss, and some products on the market may not even contain real hoodia. About Lisinopril

What Is Lisinopril Used For?

Brand names: Zestril, Prinivil, Qbrelis

Lisinopril treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children 6 years and older, and can be used alone or alongside other blood pressure medicines. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. The tablet combination product containing lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide is specifically indicated for high blood pressure.

Lisinopril is also used as an add-on therapy to reduce signs and symptoms of systolic heart failure, and to reduce the risk of death in people who are hemodynamically stable (have reasonably stable circulation) within 24 hours of an acute heart attack (acute myocardial infarction).
