Antihypertensive Drugs
Why this applies to Captopril, Hydrochlorothiazide
Captopril, Hydrochlorothiazide falls under Antihypertensive Drugs — the group Humann Superbeets Heart Chews interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: your Capozide already lowers blood pressure two ways. Captopril relaxes your blood vessels, and the hydrochlorothiazide part pulls extra fluid out through your urine. The beetroot in these chews adds a little nitric oxide on top, which can gently widen blood vessels too. So you're nudging your blood pressure in the same direction with both.
For most people this overlap is minor and short-lived, but it can stack up. The main thing to watch for is feeling dizzy, lightheaded, or woozy, especially when you stand up quickly. That's more likely if you're also a bit dehydrated from the water pill. I wouldn't stop either one. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before adding the chews so they can keep an eye on your numbers.

About Captopril and Hydrochlorothiazide
What Is Captopril and Hydrochlorothiazide Used For?
Brand names: Capozide, Acezide
Captopril and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). The two ingredients work together to lower blood pressure more effectively than either one alone — their effects are approximately additive.
The combination tablet may be used as a starting treatment or substituted when a patient has already been stabilized on the individual ingredients separately. It is generally suitable for patients with normal kidney function; patients with impaired kidney function should only use it when other treatments haven't worked or have caused unacceptable side effects.
