Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the gist: Tresiba (insulin degludec) is a long-acting insulin that lowers your blood sugar all day. Lion's mane may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own, at least based on animal studies. Put the two together and there's a chance your numbers could dip a little lower than usual, which means watching for signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or confusion.

I want to be honest about the evidence here, though. This is theoretical and comes from lab and animal research, not solid human studies, so for most people the effect is likely small. Still, since insulin is powerful, it's worth keeping a closer eye on your readings if you start lion's mane, and check with your doctor or pharmacist before making any changes.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Insulin Degludec page

“Insulin degludec (Tresiba) is a long-acting insulin meant to hold blood sugar steady around the clock, which means anything else that pushes glucose down can push it too far. That is the story for nearly all 239 ingredients on this page, and the list warrants genuine caution.”
