Here's the situation with combining lithium products and fosphenytoin (Sesquient). Fosphenytoin is a prodrug, meaning your body quickly converts it into phenytoin, the active seizure medicine. So when we talk about this interaction, we're really talking about phenytoin in your system.

The concern here is mostly theoretical, based on how these drugs behave rather than strong human studies. When lithium and phenytoin are taken together, there may be a slightly higher chance of neurotoxicity, things like unsteadiness, confusion, slurred speech, tremor, or feeling extra drowsy. It's unclear whether the small amounts in supplements like lithium orotate would ever cause this. Still, since both can affect the brain, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them.
