Here's the situation if you're asking about vecuronium (Norcuron). This isn't something you'd ever take at home. It's a muscle relaxant given through an IV during surgery to keep your muscles still while you're under anesthesia and on a breathing machine. The concern on file is that lithium may lengthen how long vecuronium keeps your muscles paralyzed, which could mean a slower recovery of normal breathing and movement after the procedure.

Honestly, this is a theoretical worry based on how lithium behaves, not solid proof. And we don't know if the tiny amounts in lithium supplements (like lithium orotate) matter at all. Still, your surgical team needs the full picture. Please tell your anesthesiologist, surgeon, or pharmacist about any lithium product you take before any operation.
