Here's the simple version. Meprobamate (Equanil, Miltown) is a tranquilizer that calms your brain down. The concern with Marsh Labrador tea is that it may add to that calming, sedating effect. So instead of changing how your body breaks the drug down, the tea could pile on top of what the medicine is already doing.

In real life, that might mean feeling extra drowsy, dizzy, foggy, or unsteady on your feet. I'll be honest with you, this warning is theoretical, based on how the plant behaves rather than solid human studies. On top of that, this tea contains grayanotoxins that can be genuinely toxic, so I'd steer clear of it regardless. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing the two.

What Is Meprobamate Used For?

Brand names: Equanil, Miltown, Meprospan, Neuramate

Meprobamate tablets are used to manage anxiety disorders or to provide short-term relief of anxiety symptoms. It is intended for anxiety that rises to the level of a disorder — everyday stress and tension that most people experience generally do not require this type of medication.

Because its effectiveness beyond four months has not been well studied, meprobamate is typically used for a limited period of time, with a prescriber checking in regularly to decide whether continued use is still appropriate.
