Here's the gist: Marsh Labrador tea has been noted to add to the sedating, slowing-down effects of things like alcohol and barbiturates. Metoclopramide (Reglan) isn't a barbiturate, but it can already make some people feel drowsy, tired, or foggy. So if you pair it with this herb, the worry is that those calming effects could stack up and leave you more sleepy or sluggish than usual.

I'll be honest with you, this is a theoretical caution based on how the plant behaves, not solid human studies. On top of that, Marsh Labrador tea contains grayanotoxins that can be genuinely toxic, so I wouldn't recommend it routinely anyway. If you're taking metoclopramide and curious about this tea, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Marsh Labrador tea is a bog-growing shrub used in folk medicine for coughs, colds, and skin problems, but high-quality human evidence for any use is lacking. Because it contains grayanotoxins (andromedotoxin) that can be poisonous, it is not considered safe for routine use, and pregnant or breastfeeding people should avoid it.

About Metoclopramide

What Is Metoclopramide Used For?

Brand names: Reglan, Metoclopramide Injection, Octamide

Metoclopramide tablets are used in adults for two main conditions. First, they treat symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux (GERD — when stomach acid backs up into the esophagus) in people who haven't gotten relief from standard treatments. Second, they ease symptoms of diabetic gastroparesis, a condition where nerve damage from diabetes causes the stomach to empty too slowly.

Treatment is meant to be short-term. For acid reflux, it's used for 4 to 12 weeks. For diabetic gastroparesis, it's generally used for 2 to 8 weeks. It is not recommended for children due to serious safety concerns.
