Chlordiazepoxide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Panax Notoginseng interacts with.

Theoretically, taking Panax notoginseng might reduce the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Animal research shows that administering Panax notoginseng intravenously for 7 days before intraperitoneal injection of caffeine can decrease maximal blood levels of caffeine by 37%. This interaction was attributed to the ability of Panax notoginseng to increase the activity of CYP1A2.

Here's the idea behind this pairing. Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to help clear chlordiazepoxide (Librium). In animal studies, Panax notoginseng seemed to speed that enzyme up. If the same thing happened in people, your body might break down Librium a bit faster, which could make it work less well. In practice that might mean your anxiety or alcohol withdrawal symptoms aren't as well controlled as expected.

I want to be honest with you though: this is only theoretical, based on lab and animal research, not real human studies. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since you're taking Librium for something that matters, just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before adding this herb so they can keep an eye on how you're doing.

What Is Chlordiazepoxide Used For?

Chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride capsules are used to manage anxiety disorders or for short-term relief of anxiety symptoms. They are also used to relieve withdrawal symptoms in acute alcoholism, and to reduce apprehension and anxiety before surgery.

Note that everyday stress and tension do not usually require an anxiety medication like this one. Long-term use beyond 4 months has not been well-studied, so your prescriber should periodically check whether it is still the right fit for you.
