Ramelteon falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Panax Notoginseng interacts with.

Theoretically, taking Panax notoginseng might reduce the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Animal research shows that administering Panax notoginseng intravenously for 7 days before intraperitoneal injection of caffeine can decrease maximal blood levels of caffeine by 37%. This interaction was attributed to the ability of Panax notoginseng to increase the activity of CYP1A2.

Here's the thing with combining sanqi (Panax notoginseng) and Ramelteon: your body relies on an enzyme called CYP1A2 to break down ramelteon, and this herb may speed that enzyme up. If it clears ramelteon faster, the medicine could become less effective, meaning you might find it harder to fall asleep, which is the very problem you're trying to fix.

I want to be straight with you though, this is theoretical. The concern comes from an animal study using caffeine, not from people taking ramelteon, so we don't really know if it matters in real life. Before you pair these two, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how well your sleep med is working.
