Ethinyl Estradiol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Panax Notoginseng interacts with.

Theoretically, taking Panax notoginseng might reduce the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Animal research shows that administering Panax notoginseng intravenously for 7 days before intraperitoneal injection of caffeine can decrease maximal blood levels of caffeine by 37%. This interaction was attributed to the ability of Panax notoginseng to increase the activity of CYP1A2.

Here's the gist for ethinyl estradiol, the estrogen found in many birth control pills and some hormone therapies. Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 (among others) to help break this hormone down. In animal research, Panax notoginseng appeared to speed up that enzyme, which lowered levels of another CYP1A2 drug. If the same thing happened with ethinyl estradiol, your body might clear it a bit faster, which in theory could weaken its effect.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It comes from lab and animal studies, not people taking the pill, so we really don't know if it matters in real life. Still, if your estrogen is for birth control, even a small dip is worth taking seriously. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
