Vorapaxar falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Passion Flower interacts with.

Theoretically, passion flower might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that passion flower can induce CYP3A4 enzymes, albeit to a much lower degree than rifampin, a known CYP3A4 inducer.

Here's the short version: your body clears Vorapaxar (Zontivity) using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dish studies, passion flower seemed to gently speed up that enzyme, which in theory could clear Vorapaxar a little faster and slightly weaken its clot-preventing effect. Since Vorapaxar is an active drug (not a prodrug that needs switching on), faster breakdown means slightly less benefit, not more.

I want to be honest, though: this is theoretical and based only on test-tube data, and the effect on the enzyme was much weaker than known strong inducers. For a heart medicine you're relying on to prevent another heart attack or stroke, it's still worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding passion flower. Don't change your Vorapaxar on your own.

What Is Vorapaxar Used For?

Brand name: Zontivity

Zontivity (vorapaxar) is used to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke, cardiovascular death, and the need for urgent procedures to open blocked arteries. It is prescribed for people who have already had a heart attack or who have peripheral arterial disease (PAD) — a condition where arteries outside the heart become narrowed or blocked.

Zontivity is not used alone. It is given alongside aspirin and/or clopidogrel as part of a broader antiplatelet treatment plan.
