Cyclobenzaprine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Passion Flower interacts with.

Theoretically, passion flower might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that passion flower can induce CYP3A4 enzymes, albeit to a much lower degree than rifampin, a known CYP3A4 inducer.

Here's the deal with pairing passion flower and cyclobenzaprine. Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) is partly cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dish studies, passion flower seemed to gently speed that enzyme up, which in theory could clear cyclobenzaprine a bit faster and make it work a little less. The catch is this signal comes from test tube research, not from people, and the effect was much weaker than known enzyme boosters like rifampin.

So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Practically speaking, you're more likely to notice that both can make you drowsy, so the combo may leave you feeling extra sleepy or foggy. If you take both, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Cyclobenzaprine Used For?

Brand names: Cyclobenzaprine, Flexeril, Cycloprine

Cyclobenzaprine tablets and extended-release capsules are used alongside rest and physical therapy to relieve muscle spasm caused by acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions — easing pain, tenderness, and limited movement. This use is intended for short-term treatment only (up to 2–3 weeks).

Tonmya, the sublingual (under-the-tongue) form of cyclobenzaprine, is separately indicated for the treatment of fibromyalgia in adults. It is not the same as the oral tablet or capsule formulations.
