Prednisone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Passion Flower interacts with.

Theoretically, passion flower might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that passion flower can induce CYP3A4 enzymes, albeit to a much lower degree than rifampin, a known CYP3A4 inducer.

Here's the gist for combining passion flower with prednisone. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help process prednisone. Some lab and animal research hints that passion flower might gently speed that enzyme up. If it did, your body could clear prednisone a little faster, which in theory could make it work slightly less well (for example, less control of inflammation, allergic flares, or the condition you're treating).

The good news: this is theoretical, based only on test-tube and animal data, and the effect looked much weaker than known strong inducers. For most people it's unlikely to cause a real problem. Still, if your prednisone is treating something serious, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing the two.
