These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Rabdosia Rubescens interacts with whole categories of medication. Beclomethasone dipropionate falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Rabdosia Rubescens in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Beclomethasone dipropionate
Beclomethasone dipropionate falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Rabdosia Rubescens interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist of it: your inhaler, beclomethasone (Qvar, QNASL), is a steroid that your body partly clears using a kind of cellular pump called p-glycoprotein. In test-tube studies, Rabdosia rubescens seems to slow that pump down. In theory, if the pump works less, a bit more steroid could hang around in your system rather than being shuttled out.
If that actually happened, you might notice the kinds of effects steroids can cause when levels run higher, things like throat or mouth irritation, hoarseness, or over a longer time the usual steroid concerns. But honestly, this is based only on lab research, not on people, so it's far from proven. Beclomethasone also acts mostly in your airways, which lowers the worry. Still, please run it past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Beclomethasone dipropionate also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for your inhaler. Beclomethasone is an inhaled steroid that your liver helps break down using an enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab and animal studies suggest oridonin, a compound in Rabdosia rubescens, may speed up that enzyme. In theory, that could clear beclomethasone a little faster and make it slightly less effective, meaning your asthma control could slip (more wheezing, coughing, or chest tightness).
I want to keep this in perspective, though. This is only test-tube and animal data, and it has never been reported in real people. Beclomethasone is also inhaled, so very little reaches the liver to begin with. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but since safety of this herb isn't well studied, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).
- BCase-control study.
- CConsensus.
- DAnecdotal evidence.

About Beclomethasone Oral Inhalation
What Is Beclomethasone Oral Inhalation Used For?
Brand names: Qvar, QNASL
Beclomethasone dipropionate HFA inhalation aerosol (the oral inhaler, sold as Qvar Redihaler) is used for the long-term, preventive treatment of asthma in people 5 years of age and older.
It is not a rescue inhaler. It does not relieve sudden asthma symptoms such as shortness of breath. The nasal spray form, Qnasl, appears in the supplied label text in studies of allergic rhinitis (nasal allergy symptoms), but no approved uses for it are listed there.
